Did you go to the carnival on Saturday?

On Saturday the 13th of August, my mum drove my auntie, four cousins and I to the carnival which was held in Mt. Wellington in her silver car.

When we got there, we all walked inside and the first thing that we did was we had to find a place to sit so we could place our bags down on the chairs. Celeste and I were in charge of looking after the food so we walked to the cafe area while my little cousins were playing in the bouncy castle.

While we were waiting in the cafeteria, I went to get some food for Celeste and I while Celeste looked after the food. I got some cotton candy, popcorn and two coke slushies.

It was really yum when we ate the cotton candy because it was sweet and it just melted in our mouths. The popcorn tasted buttery and the slushie was really cold and fizzy.

After that, my little cousin, Maddy came. She came with her friend from kindergarten and we played with the balloon she brought. We played volley, it was really fun, especially for Maddy because she always got the balloon. We played for 10 minutes because they wanted to have their face painted.

Next, we got a lot of slushies and we pretended we were in a taste test. The flavours were raspberry, lime, coke, raspberry mixed with  lime, lime mixed with coke, raspberry mixed with coke, coke mixed with cotton candy, lime mixed with cotton candy and raspberry with cotton candy. It was really fun because some of them were disgusting and some of them tasted good. My favourite slushie was the coke and the lime mixed with cotton candy.

Later on, we had to go because the carnival was over.

I had such a fun day and I was so happy because I got to spend time with my cousin. I hope we could go to the carnival again next year.

Learning Intention: We are learning to use descriptive language in our writing.
Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I use appropriate adjectives to describe the carnival that my family and I went to on Saturday.
